Citizen Monitoring of the Rivière du Nord Watershed

For over 20 years, the OBV rivière du Nord has been working to better understand and protect the Rivière du Nord watershed. Through its Water Master Plan (WMP), several priority issues have been identified:

  • Conflicts over water use
  • Overconsumption of water
  • Poor water quality
  • Flooding
  • Erosion
  • Degradation and destruction of wetlands and aquatic environments

To meet the needs of water stakeholders, we developed VigieNord, a citizen science platform that makes it easy to report and geolocate water-related issues. The tool helps to:

How to use VigieNord

The platform can be accessed on a mobile device, but using a computer is recommended for the best experience.

Report an issue in a few steps: 

  1. Click Report an Issue in the lower-left corner of the screen
  2. Select the type of issue observed
  3. Specify the location, either by clicking directly on the map or entering an address or place in the search bar
  4. Fill out the short form (your name or contact information is not required for confidentiality)
  5. If you have a file to attach, such as a photo or water analysis report, click on Add to upload it (optional)
  6. Click on Submit
